Kids PROGRAM | AGES 6–14 YRS
Our comprehensive self-defense program was created in response to parents' desire for their children to have a place outside their homes to develop values such as responsibility, respect, and self-discipline. A positive sense of self, along with the ability and confidence to appropriately defend oneself is a sure outcome from enrollment into our martial arts program. Kids gain positive knowledge that will last a lifetime in a fun and safe environment!
The main goal in Jiu Jitsu practice is to cultivate a person's mind and body, not to use it as a means to vent one's anger, frustration or emotional problems. The use of force is condoned only in self-defense or in the defense of those who are defenseless.
The benefits from our martial arts program are countless and go well beyond learning self-defense. Many of our parents have noted seeing positive changes in...
Focus and concentration, resulting in better grades.
Respect and discipline, resulting in improved behavior.
Fitness and conditioning, resulting in greater overall health & wellness.
Our goal is to teach students to reach their truest potential in life. We have partnered with Robyn J. A. Silverman, PhD., Child and Adolescent Development Specialist whom has developed a comprehensive character development curriculum called POWerful Words!
Each month our students will have the opportunity to be positively recognized for completing a POWerful Project. These projects are age appropriate, very educational, and fun to do! At the end of every class our students will take part in a POWerful Mat Chat that will help them to solidify their understanding of the POWerful Character Word of the Month. Dr. Robyn has written this curriculum specifically for use in our Martial Arts Academy, so now our students will actually be getting two world-class programs for the price of one!
The Metrowest Academy’s Leadership Class is designed to offer Juniors and young Adults a great opportunity to learn what it is to lead, inspire, and teach others. The instruction, class discussions and interactive exercises are meant to help our young adults learn what it means to be a leader. The classes focus on the students strengths while making them aware of their weaknesses. Students will be engaged in lectures and open discussion as well as receive practice in teaching technique, public speaking and personal coaching We’re so excited to offer our junior leaders this great opportunity which offers experiences that will help them in the Academy and in life.
HOW IS AMERICAN JIU JITSU DIFFERENT THAN OTHER MARTIAL ARTS?
Every martial art has its strengths and specialties. Some arts are sports oriented, artistic or demonstrative in nature. American Jiu Jitsu specializes in real world self-defense. We do not train for sport in our style. We suggest that you look into all of your options to better understand exactly what you are looking for.
ARE THE CLASSES SAFE?
Our classes are very safe. The students are highly regulated while they are working out. Each class has an age requirement which helps separate the older children from the younger ones. This also allows the children to successfully learn and perform their moves so they will feel good about themselves.
WILL MY CHILD HAVE FUN?
Motivation, excitement and fun are the essential tools we use to increase the learning and performance of our students. Martial Arts are good, clean fun for kids. We offer various school events that teach children how to get along better with others. Our classes also foster a spirit of teamwork and a sense of belonging.
WILL MY CHILD LEARN TO BE ABUSIVE?
All of our students are taught a peaceful and non-confrontational philosophy. We teach common sense before self-defense. We are very committed to having well-behaved, respectful and courteous students in order to maintain the integrity of our art and school.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF THE MARTIAL ARTS?
Our focus is to teach children life skills. Because a structure of respect, courtesy and honesty is built into Martial Arts, children develop the ability to listen, learn and achieve. They will become more confident, disciplined, and focused. If you have ever thought about getting your child started in the lasting benefits of the Martial Arts, now is the time!
WHAT CAN I EXPECT MY child's FIRST EXPERIENCE TO BE LIKE?
You can expect a completely open and friendly environment for the first class and all classes. One of the best parts about our academy is the happy and welcoming nature of our instructors and students. Here's a quick overview of how to get started:
Call to book the new student evaluation so we can give your child a brief overview before their first class
Jump into group class! Our introductory program includes 2 weeks of classes so your child can get the "hands on" experience he or she needs. This will ensure that you are to make an educated decision on the best school for you child.
my child HAs a RANK IN ANOTHER SCHOOL/STYLE. will their CURRENT RANK TRANSFER TO YOUR SCHOOL WHEN he/she JOINs?
We understand, appreciate and acknowledge the expertise you have from your previous style. This usually also means you have a deeper appreciation for the art. Some of our best students are those who held rank in a previous school or style and have taken off their belts to begin the next step in their martial arts journey.
