Middle school is the hard part. This helps.
Eleven to fourteen is when kids need this most and are hardest to reach. Phones, social pressure, changing bodies, and a sudden allergy to anything that feels childish. Juniors is built for exactly that.
The training is real. Full technique, real resistance appropriate to rank, and standards that don't bend. Juniors are treated like the young adults they're becoming, so more is expected and more is earned. Standing defense, ground defense, escapes, and the judgment to know when walking away is the win.
Here's the part that matters later. Consistent Juniors students go on to our Leadership Team, where they learn to teach, lead, and be counted on. It's open to Kids and Juniors students alike, and it's earned by maturity and consistency, not by age group.
We ask Juniors to train twice a week. Students who earn green belt and up add an advanced class on Thursdays.
Skills that are actually real
No padding the curriculum. Juniors learn working self-defense with the control and judgment to go with it.
Confidence without the attitude
The quiet kind, earned on the mat and visible everywhere else. It reads as posture, not bravado.
A room that isn't a screen
Training partners who show up for each other, and older students worth looking up to.

Common Questions
What Juniors parents ask
My teen has never done martial arts. Is 13 too late to start?
Not even close. Plenty of our best students started in middle school. Beginners train with beginners, and rank is matched so nobody gets thrown to the wolves. Starting now beats starting never.
Is this going to make them more aggressive?
Honestly, it's almost always the opposite. A teen who knows they can handle themselves has nothing left to prove. We teach walking away first, and we hold them to it.
What’s the Leadership Team?
A year-long program where our most consistent students, from both Kids and Juniors, learn to teach and lead. They're the ones you'll see running warmups and working with younger kids. Read about the Leadership Team.
Can they train with friends from other age groups?
Classes are grouped by age so training is safe and fair, but on Saturday mornings the whole academy trains back to back. Siblings and friends overlap all the time.

What MetroWest families say
"I had already visited a half-dozen schools without finding what I was seeking… He treated them as near to adults as they could be expected to handle, with a firm but empathetic tone… No ego trip for the sensei, scare tactics about the dangerous world, or pressure to go compete for the school. Just an excellent education in self defense, self-control, and maturity, taught by and with great people."

"Little did I know at the time how quickly it would become a second home to our family. It is a place where she has gained confidence in herself, leadership skills, and even more importantly some of her best friends both in and out of a choke hold or arm bar… Come in and say hello, I don't think you will be disappointed."

"My son Elliott was hesitant to try Jiu-Jitsu, agreeing to just one test class. By the end of that first lesson, he was tugging on his shirt asking when he’d get his gi! Fast forward nearly two years: he deeply loves the training, the friends, and the positive outlet it provides—he’s even stepped up into leadership training."
