Adult Jiu Jitsu (ages 15+)

Self-defense class, for real-life situations

Natick MA, we have the best Self-Defense program in the Metrowest! Our American Jiu-Jitsu classes focus on self-defense, but we also help increase your cardio strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination, and discipline.

The ability to turn an attacker's own force against them

The term Jiu-Jitsu translates to "the science of softness" or "the gentle art" and is applied to many schools of unarmed and hand-to-hand combat. It was intended to help unarmed soldiers fight against armed enemies using the least amount of force necessary. Jiu-Jitsu was also the primary unarmed combat method of the Samurai. Modern-day Aikido, Judo, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, and MMA are all descendants of Jiu Jitsu.

In our Jiu-Jitsu classes, we emphasize the ability to turn an attacker's own force against them, using certain grappling moves and strikes to vital areas. Our students learn how to gauge the force of an opponent's attack and use it against them, evade attacks, use leverage against an opponent, and attack nerves and pressure points.

Size, strength, and flexibility are not the most important factors

in achieving proficiency in this art, since Jiu-Jitsu does not rely on brute force. Instead, the main goal in Jiu Jitsu practice is to cultivate a person's mind and body, not to use it as a means to vent anger, frustration, or emotional problems. We condone the use of force only in self-defense or in the defense of those who are defenseless.

Don't wait any longer to start your self-defense journey

In our American Jiu-Jitsu classes, you can join us today and learn how to defend yourself while improving your overall physical and mental health.

I would absolutely recommend The Metrowest Academy!  In my opinion, the number one reason to join the academy is the instructor. Sensei Paul is a phenomenal teacher. More importantly, he is a genuinely good person who truly cares about the wellbeing of each and every student. Nowhere else is this reflected more than in the atmosphere of the academy. Everyone that I’ve met in the academy is amazingly nice and has become like a second family to me. If you don’t believe me, just come down to watch a class. Joining the academy and training in Jiu Jitsu has been one of the best things that I’ve done in my entire life. Not only has it given me the skills and confidence to defend myself and family, but it has also gotten me into great shape. The adult Jiu Jitsu class has become something of an addiction to me. I hate to miss a class and when I do, I can’t wait to find out what I’ve missed. I love that it combines several different art forms (Jiu Jitsu, Aikido, Muay Thai, and Western Boxing, to name a few). This style combines effective techniques from a variety of martial arts to make sure that we all get home safe and sound each night. I couldn’t recommend it more!
