Kids Martial Arts Classes · Ages 7 to 10 · Natick, MA
The change shows up at school first.
Ages seven to ten is when it clicks. Kids are old enough to learn real technique and young enough that the habits go deep and stay. Discipline, respect, perseverance.
Classes are forty-five minutes of real jiu jitsu. Standing defense, escapes, ground control, and safe falling, taught with control and matched to size and experience. Rank is earned, never given, which is exactly why a new stripe means something here.
What parents tell us most often isn't about the techniques. It's that the change showed up at school and at home. More focus, more confidence, less drama. We're a character-development academy that uses jiu jitsu as the vehicle, and this is the program where that's most visible.
We ask Kids to train twice a week. You pick the days, and they can change weekly.
Real self-defense
Age-appropriate, practical technique. Leverage over strength, control over aggression, common sense before self-defense.
Discipline that transfers
Bowing in, lining up, earning rank. The structure kids push against at first is the thing they come to love.
Bully-proofing, done right
Confidence, verbal boundaries, and the skill to stay safe, taught with a peaceful, non-confrontational philosophy.

Common Questions
What Kids parents ask
Will my child learn to be a bully?
The opposite. Every student is taught a peaceful, non-confrontational philosophy. Common sense before self-defense. We're committed to respectful, courteous students, and that's how we protect the art and the school.
My child isn’t athletic. Will they keep up?
Totally. Jiu jitsu runs on leverage and technique, not size and not athleticism. That's the whole point of it. We match kids by size and experience, so yours moves at their own pace, never somebody else's.
How is this different from karate or taekwondo?
Most martial arts drill striking for sport or a demo. What we do is self-defense: escapes, control, and staying safe. The kind of skill that works no matter how big the other person is, taught with control and respect.
How do belts and stripes work?
Rank is earned here, through skill and just showing up, never handed out on a schedule. Kids test when they're ready, not on a timer. That's exactly why a new stripe actually means something to them.
What’s the Leadership Team?
A year-long program where our most consistent students, from both Kids and Juniors, learn to teach and lead. They're the ones you'll see running warmups and working with younger kids. Read about the Leadership Team.

What MetroWest families say
"The staff create a very welcome and fun place where our kids feel very challenged but also successful… Our shy non-athletic daughter blossomed during her training and our son who struggled to fit into team sports has discovered the perfect combination of individual and team practice. Highly recommend!"

"Every person from the senseis to the coaches to the students, is helpful, encouraging, and do their best to bring about an environment of positivity. My daughter has told me multiple times that going to jiujitsu is the highlight of her day and what she looks forward to the most."
